Yul is a third-year female snowy owl, trapped Nov. 24, 2019, at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Québec by Falcon Environmental Services, tagged by Rebecca McCabe, and relocated away from the airport for her safety. She quickly returned to the airport, was retrapped and relocated a second time. Her transmitter was funded by generous donations from the public.
Yul migrated north in the spring of 2020 and nested that summer in the northern Ungava Peninsula of Québec, migrating south in late December 2020 and wintering on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, well away from the airport. In April 2021 she migrated north, crossing Hudson Bay and summering on Southampton Island, Nunuvat. She appears not to have nested in 2021. She migrated south in late December 2020 and reconnected Jan. 9, 2021, back among the agricultural fields of the St. Lawrence south shore.
