Embléme (so named because the snowy owl is the official provincial bird of Québec) is a first-winter female trapped Jan. 11, 2026, at the Montréal-Trudeau International Airport by Falcon Environment for relocation for her safety. She was fitted with a transmitter by Dr. Guy Fitzgérald of the University of Montréal and Union quebecoise de rehabilitation des oiseaux de proie (UQROP), and released south of the St. Lawrence River Jan. 16, 2026. Her transmitter was underwritten by generous donations to Project SNOWstorm.
We are raising $15,000 this year for Snowy Owl research.
We're continuing our work this winter, learning more about these majestic Arctic predators, but we can't do it without your help. Your donation to Project SNOWstorm is tax-deductible through our institutional home, the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art in Pennsylvania, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
